On 31.08.2022 the decree on the minimum wage has been adopted during the meeting of the Council of Ministers, which will be implemented under Article 3(1) of the Minimum Wage Law, Cap 183 as from 01.01.2023.
New Minimum Wage
Within first six months of employment in the Republic of Cyprus the minimum wage will be EUR 885, however, afterwards it should be raised up to EUR 940. - If the employer provides food and accommodation for the employee, by the mutual agreement it is possible to deduct from the payroll 15% for food and 10% for accommodation;
- Employees who are receiving training or professional qualification are excluded from the decree;
- If employees are already receiving more favorable treatment from a customary contract or other any decrees which benefit them, are excluded from the new minimum wage changes.
